Biopsychosocial Approach – approach that incorporates different but complimentary views from biological, psychological and social-cultural perspectives.
Critical Thinking – thinking that examines assumptions, uncovers hidden values, weighs evidence and addresses conclusions.
Psychology – the science of behavior and mental processes.
Humanistic Psychology – emphasized the growth potential of healthy people and the individual’s potential for personal growth.
Cognitive Psychology – the interdisciplinary study of the brain activity linked with mental activity (including perception, thinking, memory and language).
Behaviorism – the view that psychology:
- should be an objective science, that
- studies behavior without reference to mental processes.
Most research psychologists agree with 1 but not 2.
